Meet the SOC Co-Chairs

 

Stefanie Sarantopoulos - Duke University – Adult Blood and Marrow Transplant Program

Dr. Stefanie Sarantopoulos is a tenured Professor in Medicine and Immunology at Duke University in the Division of Hematological Malignancies and Stem Cell Therapies where she co-leads the Immuno-Oncology (IO) program at the Duke Cancer Institute (DCI). She is also a bone marrow transplant physician who cares for patients with leukemias and lymphomas and she directs the Duke GVHD Multi-disciplinary ResearchCare Team (MRCT). Her laboratory-based research program focuses on aberrant B-cell signaling and maturation. Dr. Sarantopoulos has served on past Scientific Committees for ASTCT and as past Director of laboratory Sciences for the society. She is a current associate editor of the ASTCT Journal of Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (TCT).

Sumithira (Sumi) Vasu - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, The Ohio State University

Dr. Sumi Vasu is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Ohio State University where she is the Scientific Director of the Transplant and cell therapy program in the Division of Hematology. She is a bone marrow transplant and Cell Therapy physician who cares for patients with hematologic malignancies. Her research  focus is  point-of-care manufacturing of cellular therapies for hematologic malignancies and transplant-related thrombotic microangiopathy . She is the medical director of the Cell Therapy Lab at Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital. Dr. Vasu has served on numerous committees at the American Society of Transplantation and Cell Therapy and is an Associate Editor at the Seminars in Hematology.
